Planning ahead is one way families can care for one another. It can help loved ones understand important wishes, know where essential information is kept, and know whom to contact when funeral assistance is needed.

Assure Your Loved Ones, Inc. (AYLO) is an independent Assure For Life consultant organization. AYLO provides education and enrollment assistance for Assure For Life Funeral Assistance Membership Plans.

What Is a Funeral Assistance Membership?

An Assure For Life Funeral Assistance Membership is not life insurance, burial insurance, final-expense insurance, or a prepaid funeral contract. It does not provide a predetermined monetary death benefit. Instead, when an eligible death occurs, Assure For Life coordinates qualifying funeral assistance services through an independent funeral service provider in accordance with the applicable Membership Agreement.

Family and Silver Plan Options

The Family Plan may include up to seven eligible people age 65 or younger. Up to two parents or the partner of the primary membership holder may be added at enrollment up to age 80, subject to the applicable eligibility requirements.

The Silver Plan is designed for eligible individuals ages 66 through 75.

Current membership rates range from $75 to $85 per month depending on the state and applicable rate. Rates and terms may change, including upon renewal, so prospective members should confirm the current rate and review the governing Membership Agreement before enrolling.

What Assistance May Be Available?

Depending on the applicable Membership Agreement, eligibility requirements, waiting periods, limitations, exclusions, and circumstances, qualifying funeral assistance may include:

  • Transfer of the deceased to a local funeral service provider;
  • Preparation of the body;
  • Basic viewing time and a viewing casket;
  • Funeral director fees;
  • A book of signatures/remembrance;
  • A death certificate;
  • Cremation option: cremation and an urn for ashes;
  • Burial option: a basic casket and hearse to the cemetery; and
  • A round-trip airline ticket for the primary membership holder to attend the funeral of an enrolled member, subject to the applicable terms.

Important: Cemetery plot and interment fees are not included in the United States, Washington, D.C., or Puerto Rico. Other exclusions and limitations may apply under the Membership Agreement.

Eligibility at Enrollment

Based on current Assure For Life membership information, at the time of enrollment the primary member and other members must not:

  • Be terminally ill;
  • Have an active cancer diagnosis;
  • Be receiving dialysis; or
  • Have a brain tumor.

Eligibility is governed by the current Membership Agreement and Assure For Life's applicable procedures.

Understand the Waiting Periods

For accidental death, violent death, or suicide, applicable benefits begin on the third business day after enrollment once the first payment has been made, subject to the Membership Agreement.

For death by natural causes, applicable benefits begin 180 calendar days after the first payment, subject to the Membership Agreement.

What Should a Family Do When an Enrolled Member Dies?

Do not make prior arrangements with an outside service provider before contacting Assure For Life. When possible, gather the contract number, membership holder information, the location of the deceased, and available information concerning the cause of death.

Why Planning Ahead Matters

Good preparation is not about fear. It is about understanding. Families can discuss burial or cremation preferences, keep membership information accessible, make sure a trusted adult knows where important documents are located, and understand what the membership includes and excludes.

Before enrolling, ask questions. Review the current Membership Agreement. Make sure you understand the waiting periods, eligibility requirements, available services, exclusions, renewal terms, and current rate.
